Review for FINAL TEST:
Study the following skills:
  • Spelling words: Students will listen to the teacher and write the word on the line (radar, baby, zero, fever, pilot, tiger, soda, robot, student, and tulip) 
  • Vocabulary: Students will write a short original sentence with the following vocabulary words: bike, help, cried, and training wheels.
  • Plural Nouns: Students will write the plural form of each noun.
**Rules for plural nouns: 
1) Add an -s to form MOST plural nouns.
2) For singular nouns that end in -s, -sh, -ch, or -x, add -es.
3) For singular nouns that end in -y, take away the -y and add -ies.
  • Irregular Plural Nouns: Students will write the plural form of each noun.
**Remember: some singular nouns change their spelling to make them plural.  Study the following:
1) foot-feet
2) man-men
3) tooth-teeth
4) goose-geese
5) woman-women
6) person-people

**Remember: some irregular plural nouns do not have to change their spelling to make them plural.  Only study the following:
1) deer-deer
2) sheep-sheep
  • Collective Nouns: Students will match each plural noun to its collective noun.
**Study the following:
1) people-crowd
2) ants-army
3) bees-swarm
4) monkeys-troop
5) geese-flock
6)sheep- herd
7) lions-pride
8) books-stack

Study the following skills:
  • Spelling words (climb, snack, sweep, snail, swim, flute, sneeze, flag, swan, and clock) 
Part A: Students will listen to the teacher and write the word on the line.
Part B: Students will complete five of the ten words with the correct consonant blend (fl, cl, sw, or sn).
  • The Sentence
Part A: Students will underline the complete sentence.
Part B: Students will rewrite the statements correctly using proper punctuation and capital letters.
  • Types of sentences: Students will write an "S" if the sentence is a statement, a "Q" if the sentence is a question, or an "E" if the sentence is exclamatory.

Review for Test (Friday, October 25th)
Study the following skills:
  • Vocabulary words (gray, tomorrow, kiss, rocking chair, fuzzy, turn, backyard, and shake) Students will fill in the blank with the correct vocabulary word.
  • Spelling words (new, stew, dew, chew, flew, cow, clown, owl, flower, and brown) Students will complete the word with its correct diphthong "ew" or "ow".
  • Possessive Nouns: Students will complete the sentence with the correct possessive noun.  Also, they will circle the possessive noun in other sentences.
  • Reflexive Pronouns (myself, himself, herself, yourself, and ourselves) Students will circle the reflexive pronoun in a sentence.

Special Homework:
Complete at home page 22 from the Grammar/Writing book:
Students will use the computer/phone/tablet to research facts about their favorite animal.  They will answer the questions on the page.

Review for Short Test (Tuesday, October 1st):
Study the following skills:
  • Spelling words (three, cake, seal, plane, leaf, eel, seed, teacher, bee, and sleep) I will dictate the words and the students will write them on the line.
  • Pronouns: Subject Pronouns (I, we, you, he, she, they, it) and Object Pronouns (me, us, you, him, her, them, it) Students will identify the subject pronoun and object pronoun in sentences like in pages 16 and 19 from the Spelling Book. 
  • Reading Comprehension questions from the story "Tummy Rumble": Students will circle the correct answer for the 5 questions, which are in their notebooks.

Review for test (Friday, September 13th):

*Study the following for Test #1:
  • Vocabulary: slice, pepperoni, sprinkle, cheese, add, dough, pizza, sauce (Students will fill in the blank with the correct vocabulary word.)
  • Spelling: brain, play, grain, crayon, rain, tray, hay, paint, holiday, braid (Students will complete the spelling word using ai or ay, use as an example page 7 from the Spelling/Phonics book).
  • Verbs (Students will color the verbs.)
  • The Subject (Students will identify the subject of the sentence.)
  • Reading Comprehension from the story "Pizza!" (Students will write T if the statement is true or F if the statement is false from the story read and discussed in class.)
